CHESTER – Chester City Council approved the Tyler County 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan at their regular meeting Monday evening, Mar 2.
After a brief discussion and some questions on obligating the city, a few questioned the nature of the grant commitments. Mayor Robert Poynter pointed out a few incidents in the pass. After reading the resolution, the council decided to join the other county entities in the county core team that drafted the resolution. The core team members included officials from the county, sub-jurisdictions, and school districts that identified "Critical Facilities, Community Capabilities, Identification and Prioritization of Natural Hazard Risks, and the identification of new Hazard Mitigation Actions." The resolution committed Chester to "comply with the annual Plan review as described by FEMA."
In other business, it was announced that a possible new city employee will be screened.
The minutes of the previous meeting and the financials were briskly approved.
Bryan Davis asked about the ballpark. There were concerns about care and suggestions were tendered on how to service the park.
