WOODVILLE – One Woodville student, Mickey Herrera, was recently named to become a member of the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).
Herrera, who attends the Acellus Academy, was recognized by the organization as a top scholar, and in accordance with the program, one who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment, according to a press release from the organization.
The organization was formed in 2002 by James W. Lewis and Claes Nobel, a member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes. The organization currently boasts more than two million members throughout 170 countries.
Members of NSHSS are recognized for life, and the organization connects them each step of their academic journey, from high school to college and onto their careers. Herrera has been accepted to Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.
