The Lady Jacket volleyball team started district play in Leggett on Sept. 22 resulting in a sweep with scores of 25-5, 25-1, and 25-7. The Lady Jackets traveled to Spurger on Friday, Sept. 25 and picked up their second district sweep with scores of 25-6, 25-20, and 25-22. Caedence Pounds led kills with 10.
Pounds also had two aces, 11 service receptions, one block assist, and 6 digs. Kynlee Citrano had 8 kills, 9 service receptions, one assist, and 10 digs. Harley Jones had 7 kills, one solo block, one block assist, two aces, and four digs. Kimber Renfro had 5 kills, 1 solo block, one block assist, and two digs. Carlee Gay had three kills, Kennedi Wilson helped with one kill. Tegan Toler had one kill, one block assist, three aces, 10 digs, and 29 assists. Sadie Garsee led defense with 16 service receptions, 7 digs, and 11 assists. Demi Garsee had 7 digs and two assists, Kennedi Wilson had one service reception, one kill, one assist, and one dig, Jorja Barnes had one ace, two service receptions.
This week the Lady Jackets will continue district play vs Burkeville on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at JP Johnson Gymnasium. On Friday, Oct. 2 the Lady Jackets will host Leggett at 4:30 p.m.
•The Yellowjacket football team picked up a big 56-6 win versus Legacy Christian in Beaumont on Thursday, Sept. 24.
The game concluded at halftime due to the 45-point mercy rule. Kasen Citrano had 8 carries for 76 yards with 4 touchdowns, one pass completion for a 25-yard touchdown. Turner Johnson had 5 carries for 51 yards, one reception for a 25-yard touchdown. Jayse Gay had 5 carries for 78 yards with one touchdown. Gunner Walker had one carry for three yards. On the defensive side of the ball Gay had five tackles, an onside recovery, forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
Johnson had one tackle, one interception, one pick six, a pass break up, and a forced fumble. Citrano had one tackle and two hurries, Colton Wiseman had one tackle and an onside recovery, Bryson Swanson three tackles, two pass break ups, and an interception, Cainan Kosina had a forced fumble, on side recovery, and a blocked extra point attempt, Greyson Rosencranz had one tackle, a pin inside the 5, one hurry, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and a pick six. Russell McDonnold had one tackle, and hurry, and an onside kick, Masen Pursley one fumble recovery and one hurry, Hunter Ivers two hurries, and Gunner Walker had an onside recovery.
This week the Yellowjackets will play Brazosport on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. for Homecoming. Homecoming coronation will take place at halftime.
