WOODVILLE – The Tyler County Heritage Society has opened the application period for its annual scholarship award, which is open to all Tyler County graduating high school students from one of the county’s five high schools, as well as home-schooled students graduating this year.

The scholarship is for $500, and the application can be accessed at the TCHS website: https://www.heritage-village.org, or by visiting the gift shop at Heritage Village, where copies are available.

Applications must be mailed to PO Box 888, Woodville, TX 75979 by the April 29, 2024 deadline date, or be hand-delivered to the gift shop at the Village.

The application must also include the applicant’s official high school transcript, including GPA and class ranking; a letter of recommendation from school administration or teachers; a personal letter describing goals, interests, activities, awards, etc. and a letter of recommendation from someone other than a family member who has knowledge of the applicant’s academic and extracurricular activities.

The submitted applications will be evaluated by three members of the TCHS Board of Directors, and the winning applicant will be announced during their school’s presentation program of awards. The amount will be paid to the winning applicant’s college or university of choice.
