Eagle, Lady Eagle track athletes headed to Regionals

The Woodville Eagle and Lady Eagles will have several representatives heading to the 3A Region III Track Meet at Midway High School in Waco on April 19-20.  The area meet, which was originally scheduled for April 9-10 was postponed and layered canceled due to inclement weather.

With the cancellation of the area meet, the top two performers from district qualified for Regionals.

The Woodville Lady Eagles claimed the District Championship with a total of 138 points, followed by Diboll 94, Central Heights 90, Newton 76.5, PCA 76, Huntington 59.5, Central 48, and Hemphill 9.

Individual Lady Eagles qualifying for Regional were Tamara Land 400 meter dash (first 1:00.85), Aia’yuna Lee 100 meter hurdles (second 17.89), Kristen Betts shot put (1st 35’ 10 ½”) and Kamryn Grammer in the discus (first 107’9”).

Woodville earned the gold medal in all three relays. The 4X100 meter relay team was composed of Amy Lee, Tamara Land, Juliea Jackson and Kelis Brown and ran a time of 50.65. The 4X200 meter squad finished with a time of 1:48.79.

Makalan Foster joined Lee, Jackson, and Brown for the victory.  Land along with Emily Jeane, Zelia Williams, and Brittany Williams completed the 4X400 meter relay in 4:12.01.

The boys team finished as the district runner-up with 122.5 points behind Hemphill’s 150.  Diboll earned bronze with 116 points, followed by Newton 100, Central Heights 32.5, Huntington 32, Central 30, and PCA 22.

The Eagles will be represented by Christian Bean (first, 200 meter dash 21.98), Luke Babin (second, 110 Hurdles 14.47), Ty’Juan Miller (second, 300 Meter Hurdles 44.03), Christian Bean (second, Long Jump 21’6”), Bart Sylestine (second, Shot Put 41’10”) and Ty’Marion Walker (second, Triple Jump 42’10”).

Woodville’s 4X200 and 4X400 relay teams advanced to the next round with second place finishes in both events.

The 800-meter relay team of Christian Bean, Savon Bolden, Adalius Williams and Hayden Hunter ran a time of 1:30.88.  The mile team put up a time of 3:31.62.  The members of the relay were Ty’Quan Miller, Corley Dilbeck, Ethan Shird and Luke Babin.

Woodville JV boys were district Champions while the JV girls finished fourth.
