Yellowjacket golfers advance to State competition

The Yellowjacket Golf Team advanced to State after the Regional tournament this past weekend. Will Thomason led the team with a two-day total of 162, Brad Davison shot a 199, Waylon Sturrock 209, Cutter Lowe 216, and PJ Purvis shot a 271.

The state tournament will be held in San Marcos during April 29-30. Kinsley Barnes and Hailey Purvis also participated in the Regional Golf Tournament shooting a 212 and 259 respectively. Unfortunately they did not advance to the state tournament.

The boys’ and girls’ track teams participated in the Regional Track Meet in Seguin on April 19-20. Senior Kinsley Barnes was the only athlete to advance to the finals, running the 100-meter.

Barnes finished fifth overall, but needed to be in the top two to advance to state.

This week baseball and softball finishes up district play.

The Yellowjackets will recognize their only senior, Brad Davison, on Tuesday April 23 vs Zavalla. On Friday April 26 they will travel to Brookeland for an 8 p.m. game.

The Lady Jacket softball team will play at Broaddus on Tuesday April 23.

On Saturday, April 27 the Lady Jackets will play a Bi-District playoff game against the Spurger Lady Pirates in Woodville starting at 1 p.m.
