Coldspring falls to Franklin Lady Lions

The Coldspring Lady Trojans hosted the Franklin Lady Lions on March 3, falling 6-2.

Franklin struck early in the top of the first inning, but the Lady Trojans quickly answered in the bottom half of the inning when Olivia Lee delivered a single to center field, helping Coldspring even the score at 2-2.

The Lady Lions regained the lead in the top of the second inning with a timely single that pushed Franklin ahead 3-2. From there, Franklin was able to add insurance runs while holding off the Coldspring offense the rest of the way.

Coldspring received a strong performance in the circle from Trinity Rosales. The right-handed pitcher worked all seven innings, allowing seven hits and six runs, only two of them earned, while striking out 12 batters and issuing four walks.

Offensively, Olivia Lee led the Lady Trojans at the plate, going 2-for-3 and driving in a run. Cassidy Loll added pressure on the basepaths with two stolen bases.

On Friday, Coldspring faced Huntington High School, losing in the last minute 2-1.

Trinity Rosales delivered a dominant outing, recording 18 outs while allowing only five hits and two runs over six innings while striking out seven and walking just two batters. She helped her own cause at the plate, driving in the tying run with a line drive that evened the score at 1-1.

Coldspring collected five hits in the game, with Trinity Rosales, Addison Headley, Krissie Bennett, Jasper Williams, and Cassidy Loll each recording a hit. The Lady Trojans also showed strong defensive discipline, turning a double play and committing no errors in the field.

Shepherd

The Lady Pirates defeated Hardin-Jefferson 5-1 on March behind a dominant outing from Isabelle Hooper, who struck out 14 and allowed just one run over seven innings.

Shepherd jumped ahead in the first with RBIs from Brewer and Hooper, then added solo home runs by Wilson in the sixth and Lagow in the seventh. Brewer and Hooper each had two hits to lead the Lady Pirates at the plate.
