COLDSPRING — The Coldspring Trojans hosted the Crockett Bulldogs on Thursday night at Berlin Bradford Stadium for what turned out to be a spirited and competitive scrimmage. While Crockett shares a district with Coldspring in baseball, basketball, and volleyball, the football matchup was a rare treat, and it didn’t disappoint.

Unlike the previous week’s scrimmage against Livingston, where several key players were absent, this time Trojan fans got a much clearer glimpse of what the new-look team has to offer. With a new coaching staff, a new playbook, and a fresh formula for success, Coldspring is laying the foundation for an exciting season.

One of the biggest differences this year: a legitimate passing game. Long known for their speed and powerful rushing attack, the Trojans added a new dimension Thursday as quarterback David Rowe connected on several impressive completions, moving the chains with confidence. The addition of a reliable air attack forces opposing defenses to prepare for both the pass and the run, a challenge that could open the door for explosive plays on either front.

Of course, with any new system there will be growing pains. A few miscues are to be expected as players adjust, but the potential was on full display. The balance of speed, strength, and versatility makes this year’s Trojans a team to watch.

As the season unfolds, expect the Trojans to sharpen their execution, polish the playbook, and turn those promising flashes into consistent success. The foundation is set, the spirit is high, and Coldspring football is on the rise.
