Lady Pirates end season in loss to Hardin-Jefferson

SHEPHERD — The Shepherd Lady Pirates finished their season on the wrong side of the scoreboard with a 3-0 loss on Oct. 29 to Hardin-Jefferson.

The scores were 11-25, 12-25 and 10-25.

The Lady Pirates showed spirit during the game but just could not get anything going in the three sets.

Callie Dean led the attack with 3 kills, while Abbey Anderson and Aliyah Thomas each chipped in 2. Chloe Fuller had the team’s lone ace.

Defensively, Anderson led the team with 11 digs.

Coldspring

For the Lady Trojans, the last district game on Oct. 29 was a huge win.

Head Coach Dwain Anderson said that for the first time in what he could find, Coldspring beat Anderson-Shiro in a hard-fought five sets.

The Lady Owls jumped out early winning the first two sets 25-21, but Coldspring won the next three sets 26-24, 25-23, and 15-8.

“Every girl made contributions that led to us winning the match,” Anderson said.

Standouts include Ella Phillips with 20 kills and 2 blocks; Ashlynn Holley with 15 kills and 2 blocks; Tess Phillips with 10 kills and 5 aces; and Cali Crowder with 43 assists and 1 block.
