SHEPHERD — Another night, another victory. The Lady Pirates prove once again they’re a force to be reckoned with.
The Shepherd Lady Pirates owned the court on Aug. 26, sweeping the Trinity Lady Tigers in straight sets (25-10, 25-9, 25-23). From dominant serves of Aliyah Thomas, and Jazilyn Richardson that drove the offense, to a relentless presence at the net of Callie Dean and Aliyah Thomas, the Lady Pirates proved why they’re one of the most improved teams in the area.
After locking into their game plan, there was no slowing them down. The only close encounter was the last set, that proved the Lady Pirates were on a roll. With a point for point game on the line the Lady Pirates took control of the ball in the last portion of the game and managed to post a nice win.
At the weekend Dayton Tournament, the Lady Pirates lost to Dayton 2-0 (11-25, 14-25) on Thursday and to Caney Creek 2-1 (15-25, 25-22, 7-25) on Saturday. Friday’s score against Lumberton was not immediately available.
The Lady Trojans split at the weekend Hudson tournament, losing to Chester 2-0 (16-25, 20-25) but winning over Normangee 2-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-10).
