It was all Coldspring from the very first pitch Tuesday night as the Lady Trojans wasted no time taking control, rolling to a commanding 19-1 victory over Crockett in just three and a half innings.
Coldspring came out swinging, plating 11 runs in the opening frame, capitalizing on timely hits, aggressive baserunning, and a few Crockett miscues. Jasper Williams got things started with an RBI single, while Trinity Rosales added another run with a base hit of her own. Krissie Bennett delivered one of the biggest blows of the inning with a three-run triple, igniting the dugout and energizing the team
The Lady Trojans didn’t let up in the second inning, adding eight more runs to extend their advantage. Rosales stayed hot at the plate, driving in another run, while Addison Headley contributed with a run-scoring double.
In the circle, Trinity Rosales was just as dominant. The right-hander earned the win, allowing only one hit and one run over three innings while striking out six. Her control and composure helped keep Crockett’s offense in check from start to finish.
Cassidy Loll 3-4 for a .750 average, with 3 singles and scored 5 runs. She also threw a perfect game in her first varsity district game. Facing only the minimum 9 batters with 3 strikeouts.
Not to be outdone, the Lady Trojans then posted an overwhelming 15-0 win over Crockett on Friday, powered by a massive third inning that put the game out of reach.
Leading the charge was Krissie Bennett, who turned in a standout performance with four RBIs on three hits, including a bases-clearing triple. Bennett’s bat helped ignite a huge 13-run third inning, helped by Abby Murphy with a two-run triple and Olivia Lee with a run-scoring double.
Head Coach Dwain Anderson said Cassidy Loll was dominant, tossing a no-hit performance over three innings in her first start, striking out three and allowing no runs.
The Lady Pirates fell to a solid Liberty squad 6-1 in district softball action on March 17.
Jayci Wilson drove in the Lady Pirates’ lone run, while Skyleigh Lagow recorded a hit to lead the offense. In the circle, Shepherd showed determination as Wilson started the game and Isabelle Hooper came in as relief.
Then on Friday Hooper hurled a no-hitter to power the Lady Pirates past Huffman-Hargrave 2-0.
The senior left-hander kept Hargrave hitters off balance, finishing with 12 strikeouts and not allowing a single hit.
At the plate, she helped her own cause by going a perfect 3-for-3, including an RBI single that added to Shepherd’s early lead. Adison Simpson showcased aggressive baserunning by stealing home to put Shepherd on the board, and moments later, Hooper delivered with a run-scoring single to make it 2-0.
