Chester cheerleaders attend camp

During June 14-16 both Chester junior high and high school cheer squads attended a private cheer camp and worked incredibly hard. Throughout the week, as they learned new material for the upcoming football season they also worked on building skills, strengthening teamwork, and encouraging one another.

A special honor was awarded to two junior high cheerleaders Rylee Crookes-Schultz and Jaelynn Lopez and two varsity cheerleaders Carlee Gay and Lillie Byrd. These awards were given to athletes who consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, positive attitude, outstanding sportsmanship, and a commitment to supporting their teammates.

Campers Rylee Crookes-Schultz, Nora Falkenberry, Sadie Garsee, Lillie Byrd, Kendal Watton, Macey Davis, and Kynlee Citrano were also recognized with ribbons for their accomplishments and effort throughout the week.

Coaches Kayla Butter and Carrie Garsee state that they are proud of everything these athletes achieved and can't wait to showcase all they've learned this season. They would like to thank Woodville ISD and Church in the Country for the use of their facilities for camp and team bonding activities.

The cheerleaders are not finished with summer activities yet as they still have a choreography camp on August 2-3 and a mini cheer camp scheduled for August 5-6. The mini cheer camp is a yearly event that several elementary aged girls look forward to learning cheers, chants, and dances with the cheerleaders. The mini-cheerleaders will preform what they learn on Meet The Jackets night scheduled for August 10 after Meet The Teacher. More info on these activities will be announced in July.
