Livingston baseball’s season ended in the postseason’s second round after a sweep was completed by Bullard 3-2 at Nacogdoches High School Saturday.
A defense that had been strong all season once again failed the Lions in the series. Livingston committed three errors in a one-run game that would prove to be the difference.
The team’s success on the mound continued, as Karter Nelson tossed all seven innings, striking out 11 Panthers. He surrendered five hits, walked one and gave up three runs, all unearned.
In the bottom of the fourth, Livingston held a 2-1 lead following base hits from Rudy Marquez, Nelson and Ryder Surrency. Landon Hodges lined out, but an error allowed two runs.
Bullard returned the favor in the sixth, when strike three was dropped. After a throw to first, an error got two Panthers home for a lead they would keep.
Ryder Surrency had a walk and two of the Lions’ five hits, while Bentley Campos, Nelson and Marquez also recorded a hit. Marquez also walked, and Roper Wood reached base twice with a base on balls.
The Lions end 2026 with a 24-8 record, a district championship and bi-district championship.
