The Lady Jacket JV and Varsity volleyball teams traveled to Corrigan on Tuesday, August 18 to face the Lady Bulldogs. Both Lady Jacket teams came out on top with JV winning in two sets and varsity winning in three.
Varsity scores were 26-24, 25-22, and 25-16. Kynlee Citrano led offense with 11 kills, two aces, had 6 service receptions and 15 digs. Harley Jones had 8 kills, one solo block, and one assist. Caedence Pounds ended with 7 kills, one solo block, three aces, and 6 digs. Sadie Garsee led defense with 19 service receptions, 16 digs, and went 14/14 in serves. Tegan Toler went 11/11 in serves, had 2 kills, and 10 digs. Demi Garsee went 18/18 in serves, had 8 service receptions, 9 digs, and two assists. Carlee Gay and Kennedi Wilson had two kills each.
On Friday, August 21 the Lady Jackets made quick work of the Kennard Lady Tigers, winning in three straight sets with scores of 25-5, 25-3, and 25-6. Harley Jones led in kills, Kynlee Citrano, Caede Pounds, Kimber Renfro, Kennedi Wilson, and Carlee Gay contributed. Sadie Garsee led in service receptions and digs followed by Jorja Barnes, and Malia Handley. Tegan Toler led assists while Lillie Byrd also helped. Demi Garsee led aces.
This week the Lady Jackets will host the Colmesneil Lady Bulldogs on Thursday, August 27. Varsity will start first at 4:30 p.m. JV will follow.
On Friday, August 28 the Lady Jackets will play in the Hudson Tournament with games vs Newton at 10 a.m., Trinity at noon, and Hemphill at 2 p.m. Saturday bracket play will depend on the outcome of these matches.
Jackets take on teams in scrimmage
The Yellowjacket football team hosted a tri-scrimmage on Friday, August 21 vs High Island and Conroe Covenant. During the first part of the scrimmage the Jackets scored 7 times while holding High Island to no scores. For the second part of the scrimmage the Jackets defeated Conroe Covenant 50-30. Coach Butter was pleased with the work from the athletes.
This week the Jackets will travel to Oakwood to face Waco Methodist. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
