Lady Pirates end postseason run with two losses

NAVASOTA — Shepherd’s playoff run came to an end after a pair of losses to Robinson over the weekend.

The Lady Pirates lost 3-1 on Thursday, and despite a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh, lost 7-6 on Friday.

On Thursday, Neveah Murphey and Skyleigh Lagow had the sole hits for Shepherd, with Murphey logging a double while Swayze Nelson scored the lone run.

With Isabelle Hooper on the mound, the Lady Pirates kept the runs at bay for four innings, and Hooper racked up 12 strikeouts, gave up seven hits and two walks.

On Friday, Swayze Nelson, Jayci Wilson and Skyleigh Lagow all chipped in two hits apiece, and Chloe Fuller, Maci Wilson, Adison Simpson, Neveah Murphey, Rylei Brewer and Isabelle Hooper all had a hit apiece, with Brewer, Lagow and Jayci Wilson all posting doubles.

Jayci Wilson and Hooper teamed up on the mound, combining for eight strikeouts while giving up 7 hits and walking three.
