The Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a request on Saturday for assistance from San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office regarding a 16-year-old juvenile runaway.
Deputies responded to a possible location for the runaway and recovered that person. An investigation was immediately initiated into the incident.
Deputies and detectives were able to determine during the investigation that 21-year-old Anthony Armendariz, of Livingston, had picked the juvenile up out of county and returned to his residence with her. After further investigation, Armendariz was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child.
The juvenile was returned to her parents.
Armendariz is currently being held in the Polk County Jail on a bond of $40,000.
