Lions roar, sweep Lumberton

Livingston volleyball once again has advanced in the playoffs via the sweep. They disposed of a strong Lumberton team in Tuesday night's area round 25-20, 25-17, 25-20.

Woodville High School was filled with Livingston supporters who packed the gym for the win.

Corinne Henderson, Mary Martin and Ta'leiyah Garner each provided multiple kills. Maddie Akers, Taylor Wright, Evelyn Carreon, Maci Parrish and Camryn Courtney all worked to keep the ball off the floor.

The game was a bit of revenge from last season, as the Lady Raiders defeated Livingston in four sets at the area round.

Opening and final sets were tight throughout Tuesday, while the Lions pulled away late in the second set. Lumberton was competitive for most of the night, with a team that had a size advantage and hit the ball hard.

"I just think we're doing really well and we are all clicking right now," Livingston senior Mary Martin said. "Last year, we lost to Lumberton, so being able to come here and beat them was really fun."

Livingston will move on to play in the regional semifinals versus Salado, the state's No. 1 team.
