Vaughn Westhoven, a junior at Warren High School, can now claim he is the fastest 3A athlete in the state at the 110-meter hurdles. Westhoven brought home the gold medal from the UIL State Track Meet in Austin last week.
Westhoven finished with a time of 13.94, which was four-tenths of a second ahead of the second-place finisher. Westhoven went into the final event with a seed time of 14.38.
Westhoven has been hurdling since he was 11 years old and hopes to one day compete in track and field events at the collegiate level.
