It was a long weekend for me and unusual for me. I went to Cleveland for a Senior Citizens Center 42 Domino Tournament not to play but to provide door prizes for the players and their local volunteers.
I stayed for lunch, distributed gifts and had a lovely time chatting with fellow Trinity players. My next event will be attending the Martin Senior Service Center’s Thanksgiving Luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 11:30 a.m.
•Last week Lanora Ainsworth was presented with an achievement ribbon for years of service to the VFW Post 6899 Ladies Auxiliary, and I was thrilled they honored her at this time.

•Burning Hope Baptist Church is hosting a church fundraiser after church in the fellowship hall located at 331 E. Pegoda (FM 356 Curve) in Trinity. Donations are wonderful, but a suggested cost is $15. Menu is parmesan chicken, green beans, salad, and garlic toast. For more information, call (936) 594-3623.
Burning Hope Church also feeds the hungry residents of Trinity on Tuesday and Fridays of every week during the year. What a blessing they are to our community They also have a resale shop and a-safe house women.
Other organizations that feed Trinity’s residents are Remnant Faith, Liberty Christian Center, Dorcus Wills, and Martin Senior Service Center with food furnished through the Houston Food Bank programs.
•Reminder to clients who attend the Martin Senior Service Center that on Mondays starting Nov. 2 they will be open from 8 a.m. to noon. Breakfast will be served at 10 a.m. only. Lunches are not available on Mondays. For more information, call Karen at (936) 594-2625.
•I normally do not mention events that are far from our community, but when we play a school football team that is in TISD’s conference, close by, I thought this announcement might be fun for our students, neighbors, and friends to the South on Hwy 45 as well. So, here is a not so distance Annual Fall Festival to be held in New Waverly.
On Friday, Oct. 16, in downtown New Waverly at the stop sign is the fourth Annual Fall Festival that starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Some of the activities planned for the festival for your family’s enjoyment are Halloween costume contest, a bounce house, cornhole, face painting, a petting zoo, a golf simulator, axe throwing, a mechanical bull, a cake walk, arts and crafts, games, a fire truck, free food, vendors, photo ops. a pie eating contest, pony rides, and prizes. There is fun for the whole family.
If nothing else, I want to see how they get everything together at one stop sign. For more information to attend or participate, please call Kay at (936) 581-9564.
It is beginning to look and feels a lot like fall.
