One of my favorite months of every year

Posted

October is almost over. The grand finale of course is most children’s favorite, Oct. 31, Halloween Night, when Treats on the Street is being held downtown in front of the Trinity Police Station on Elm Street at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

•Senior Scholarship night was held on Tuesday at Trinity High School. The Veterans Wall of Honor fundraiser was held last Saturday afternoon at the VFW, and it was a huge success. The Pumpkin Patch is still selling pumpkins for $5 until Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

The last event I will mention for Oct. 31 is the VFW’s Halloween events for the children and adults of Trinity who attend VFW Post 6899 on Caroline Street. The public is invited and many activities are planned and announced last issue.

•My next favorite month of the year starts Sunday, Nov. 1. In addition to being Turkey Day, there is Veterans’ Day, football and TISD winter break. The weather is perfect right now and it is easy to forget about the hot days of summer.

•I will list the November events again and highlight some events in December.

Nov. 1, All Saint’s Day

Nov. 11, Veterans Day

Nov. 14, Trinity Community Health Fair

Nov. 21, VFW charity barbecue and chili cook-off

Nov. 23-27, TISD Thanksgiving Break

Nov. 26, Thanksgiving Day

Nov. 28, Black Friday

Dec. 5, Trinity Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Christmas Show

•Last week. I told you that for your child to participate in the Elf Station fundraiser in Trinity County in order to receive free Christmas gifts. Parents need to register online for each child. The link is https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/elf-station/2026.

Please remember that registration does not guarantee approval. Deadline to register is Dec. 1.

The Trinity County Elf Station fundraiser receives gifts and money from businesses, churches, and community organizations to give free gifts to children from ages 0-18 years old who live in Trinity County for Christmas.

If approved, you and your child will be given the time to come to the Trinity County Elf Station downtown on West Main Street to pick out their gift, and to choose one for their parents. The main distribution day is Dec. 19.  For more information, please call Flo at (936) 594-0112.

•New information: The new store on North Robb Street across from the Trinity Florist and Gift shop is now renting spaces for people to sell their items at this shop. Go by and take a look. More details next week after I go by there.

•Next week I will impart Christmas events that are planned at the TISD campuses, local churches, community organizations, city closings and federal holidays as I am privy to.

So far what I know is:

On Nov. 11 there is a program at the Trinity High School Campus to honor Veterans. Time to be announced next week.

Also on Nov. 11, there is a free breakfast at 8 a.m. at the VFW post at 400 Caroline Stet. The public is invited but do not eat for free.

On Nov. 12, Groveton ISD host its annual Veterans Day Lunch.

On Nov. 14, Trinity Community Health Fair is offering free booth spaces for their event for vendors who would like to participate in this fair. I do not know if it must be health-related items or not, but you can call Deborah at (936) 642-1421 to inquire about vendor booth spaces.

On Nov. 17, Trinity Methodist Church will host “Dinner with Friends” in the fellowship Hall on North Elm Street will host a special with family and friends. The public is invited, but it is not a holiday menu. For more information, please call Laura at (936) 594-3826. Donations are welcome.

On. Nov. 21, there will be a charity barbecue and chili cookoff to raise funds for the proposed banners to be displayed in our community. The cookoff will be at VFW Post 6899 in Trinity on Caroline Street. Contact (936) 327-9119.

VFW Post 6899 will be giving veterans in Trinity fixings to prepare a Thanksgiving Meal for their families and friends.

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary is still looking for a place to hang the Trinity County Veterans’ banners. I have seen one of the new banners and they are nice. They are made with good quality canvas material.

See you at the Pumpkin Patch.
