In Honor of Veterans

Posted

Several years ago, my mother was doing a lot of reminiscing back when my dad was very ill. She made a comment that war messes people’s lives up.  She was thinking about her generation, and she saw how so many lives were messed up from war. I made the comment that Viet Nam messed my generation up. And many of those who served in that conflict are still messed up.

So, in honor of all veterans we salute them.  Those who have served in the armed forces deserve our respect and honor.  In every generation there are those who serve our country.

Yes, war messes people up. It always has.

But where would we be if it were not for our veterans.  Decisions are made during war that affect all who serve.

I have a good friend who served in the Persian Gulf, and he is a disabled veteran from that conflict.  He would agree that war messes people’s lives up.  His was.

Let’s use today to honor our veterans.  They served. Let’s honor them and remember they served.

"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation." – George Washington
