Jamie Davis was born in Colmesneil, Texas in 1939. He graduated from Colmesneil High School, gave 4 years of military service to his country, and worked as a lineman for Gulf States Utilities Company in Port Arthur, Texas for more than 10 years. Following God’s guidance and his heart, Jamie moved his family back to Colmesneil where he owned Davis General Merchandise for more than 20 years. During those years, he was an avid rancher and a member of the Texas Cattleman’s Association.
Jamie’s most beloved service was to his church, First Baptist Church of Colmesneil, Texas, where he served as a deacon, led Sunday School, ministered to widows, and served on numerous committees. When a loved one leaves us, we have sadness but our joy is found in knowing they are rejoicing in Heaven. Jamie had that assurance because he accepted the Lord at an early age. (Romans 10:9) The Bible promises us eternal life with our Savior and we have comfort knowing that we will one day see Jamie again, healed and whole.
“Would you know where I am? I am at home in my Father’s house – in the mansion Jesus prepared for me there. I am where I want to be – where I have long and often desired to be. I am no longer on a stormy sea- but in a safe and quiet harbor. My working time is done – I am resting! My sowing time is done – I am reaping! I am perfect in holiness; grace is swallowed up in glory! I see God; I see Him as He is; not as through a glass darkly...but face to face!” (excerpt written by Matthew Henry)
