The Woodville Lady Eagles lost to Central Heights Friday night despite a furious comeback at the end.

The Lady Blue Devils opened the scoring with a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Senior Jade McQueen answered in the bottom of the first with a solo homerun to right field to close the gap to 4-1.  Central Heights would tack on two more runs in the third inning.

Kamron Runnels was hit by a pitch with one out in the fourth inning.  Allie Ronaghan singled on a line drive to left field advancing Runnels to second base.

Ke’Tanah Thompson moved Runnels and Ronaghan up to third and second respectively on a hard ground ball to second base.  Kamron scored on Heidi Spurlock’s RBI sacrifice to first base.

The Lady Blue Devils would advance their lead to 9-2 until two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Mallory Dunn walked on four pitches.  McQueen doubled to right field with a full count scoring Dunn.

Kendall Standley doubled to left field to bring McQueen home.  Runnels smoked a line drive single to the pitcher to put Standley on third base.  On the final play, Ronaghan lined out to the pitcher on a judgment call to end the game.

The Lady Eagles scored four runs on six hits and a walk.  Mcqueen went 2-4 with two doubles.

Standley closed out the game with two-thirds of a scoreless inning with a strikeout.  Woodville will return to action on Friday at Central High School in Pollok and Senior Night Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Hennigan Park.
