Anita Florence Selman, 97, of Woodville, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026 at The Orchard Assisted Living Center in Woodville, Texas.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 12 noon service time on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home with burial to follow in Campground Cemetery all in Woodville, Texas. Officiating will be Brother Mark Tolar.
Anita was born October 12, 1928 to William Gordon and Willie Beulah Herring Taylor in Leesville, Louisiana. A graduate of high school and beauty school in Longview, Texas. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Longview. Anita enjoyed traveling and particularly enjoyed, Indonesia, Australia and Sumatra.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie B. Pate; father, William Gordon Taylor; husband, W.F. Selman; sisters, Virginia Nagypal, Jewell Treadwell, and Ann Sterling.
She is survived by her sons, James Hays and wife Sherry of Lutz, FL and Robert McMillan of Longview; granddaughter, Heather Scoggins and husband Scott; great grandchildren, Hays Scoggins, Sydney Scoggins, Hagen Scoggins, Shelby Scoggins, and Hooper Scoggins; nieces Pamela Johnson Siegfried; Cindy Vaughn and husband Hugh; Lisa Best and husband Le Roy; Tamera Treadwell and husband Daniel Owen and Terri Treadwell. Nephews Tillman Taylor Johnson and wife Beverly; Bela Nagypal and wife Kim and David Webb Ashworth, and a host of other family and friends.
