APPLE SPRINGS — The ASISD Board of Trustees approved a tax rate unchanged from last year’s rate.
Interim Superintendent Kevin Plotts said that the board approved a rate of .7169, or 71.69 cents per $100 property valuation, which is unchanged from 2025.
Plotts said the board approved the budget, but the details were not immediately available. However, with the change in property valuations, the average annual tax bill would increase by $72.
He also said that the board approved a voter approval tax rate election, and plans to begin rolling out information through posts and town hall meetings in the near future. The election will be included in the November general election.
In a separate matter, the board discussed the recently released A-F accountability ratings, in which the district essentially was unchanged at a D overall.
The High School rose to a C, up from a D in the last year; however, the elementary school dropped to a D, down from a C the year before.
Plotts said that in order to raise the scores, the district will implement professional learning committees so teachers can collaborate on best practices, as well as do additional reviews to help both teachers and students.
The district has received a Leadership and Instructional Foundations for Texas grant, which will allow it to implement state-recommended Bluebonnet curriculum, which aligns with STAAR test and grade level.
