Bencomo running for county clerk

“My name is Ida Bencomo and I am running for Polk County Clerk in the November General Election. I currently work as a paraprofessional in Livingston schools and also own a small digital services business. In both roles, I spend my days helping people make sense of systems, stay organized, and get things done accurately and on time.

“The county clerk’s office plays an important role in everyday life. From elections to property records to vital documents, it is often the place people turn when they need help navigating an important process. I believe residents deserve an office that is dependable, welcoming and clear in its communication.

“The position of county clerk is a nonpartisan, administrative role. It is not about politics, but about service and trust. If elected, my focus will be on accuracy, consistency and making sure people feel respected and supported when they interact with the office.

“In the schools, I work closely with students and families from many backgrounds, often helping them through paperwork and procedures they are encountering for the first time. That experience has shown me how important patience and clear explanations are, especially when something feels stressful or unfamiliar.

“As a small business owner, I manage records, deadlines and compliance requirements every day. I understand how much details matter and how reliable systems help everything run more smoothly.

“The Polk County Clerk’s Office currently does important work, and I respect the staff who carry out those responsibilities. My goal is to maintain that standard and ensure the office continues to serve the community efficiently and fairly.

“I am running because I believe public service should be steady, professional and rooted in helping people. I encourage residents to learn more about the county clerk’s role and to participate in the election this November.”
