•The SJC Senior Center had Fish Friday last week. The hosts were the owners of our own online radio station, SJCRadio.com — Dale Everitt and Charles Ballard, along with Mayor John Benestante and his wife Dr. Judi Benestante, who joined other members of the Court House staff at their table.
Sponsors for this meal can contact the Senior Center and also visit the wonderful collection of clothes, toys, books, glass and china in the resale store next to the dining room.
•Finally, Team Trivia Night was a huge success. Held in Coldspring Community Center on Friday, the event was hosted by Shepherd Library but raised funds both Coldspring Library and Shepherd’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Twelve teams battled it out with questions on a variety of subjects. Snacks and drinks were on sale and a silent auction was a big hit too. Extra points were given if the contestants dressed up, so some came in costume (or disguise.) while others dressed to the nines.
The winning team named themselves “Gone with the Wind.” Bill Powell, a local DJ and great MC. ran the contest which was a lot of fun. Bill Powell Entertainment will give you the full scope of Bill’s events around our area. He is a regular Karaoke DJ as well as a trivia host. He is a DJ at private parties too. Call him at (936) 328-0031.
This evening was such fun it was called to become an annual event. The Imagination Library sends free books to children from 0 to 5 years. The goal is to encourage them to read after their parents read to them. But though books are free to the children, one every month, postage and other needs must be met by the libraries. Currently our county has 225 registered children.
