Centerville ups tax rate

CENTERVILLE — The Centerville ISD Board of Trustees approved a tax rate that was slightly higher that the previous year’s rate at the Thursday meeting.

Superintendent Mark Brown said the new tax rate will be .784, or 78.4 cents per $100 property valuation.

The tax rate for the 2025-26 fiscal year was .7552, or 75.52 cents per $100 valuation.

Relatedly, the board approved the budget for the 2026-27 school year. Brown said it was a balanced budget.

In other business, the board:

  • approved budget amendments for the 2025-26 fiscal year;
  • held a public hearing on Federal Title 1, 2, and 4 grants for the 2026-27 school year;
  • approving Centerville 4-H as an extracurricular activity and approved the Trinity County Extension agent as an adjunct faculty member;
  • approved the School Safety Audit for 2023-2026 term; and
  • approved the certification of compliance with SB 12 and certain laws.
