Cleveland man arrested following vehicle pursuit

After a Livingston Police Department night shift sergeant attempted to stop a car on Pan American Drive, the driver refused to stop, beginning a vehicle pursuit Tuesday.

The driver, later identified as Scott Joseph Randall, 40, of Cleveland, Texas, led officers to U.S. Highway 59 and continued fleeing at high speeds into San Jacinto County. Deputies and troopers from several agencies joined the pursuit. Randall eventually stopped and was taken into custody without incident for evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle.

During the investigation, officers found crack cocaine in his possession, and later learned of two active warrants for theft of property from Montgomery County. After further investigation, Randal also received another theft charge Thursday.

The LPD would like to thank the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety for their assistance during the incident.
