COLDSPRING — The Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD received a grade of 98 for its finances, according to the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas.
At the Oct. 2 meeting, the board found that the district’s grade was A-Superior Achievement for 2025-2026, a 16-point growth from the last fiscal year’s rating of 82, or B-Above Standard Achievement.
According to TEA, the financial accountability system ensures that Texas public schools are held responsible for their financial management and encourages financial adjustments if needed.
FIRST uses 21 indicators from the audited financial report and state data to determine the ranking.
“The biggest hit for us this year, the loss of two points, had to do with how much cash we had on hand,” said Chief Financial Officer Adam Jenke.
The district’s revenue vs. spending rating was 10 of 10 points. Jenke stated that the district’s general fund revenue of $20 million exceeded expenditures of $19.48 million at 2.6 percent above, compared to the previous year's loss of 4.9 percent.
Jenke stated that the district will continue to watch out for days cash, fund balance cushion, enrollment, and balanced budgets to ensure that COCISD continues to develop financial accountability.
