COLDSPRING — A recent audit by the state of Texas was extremely positive for the Coldspring-Oakurst CISD, but minor corrections need to be made to satisfy the state.

Superintendent Dr. Bryan Taulton told the Board of Trustees at the Nov. 18 meeting that there were a few doors needing minor repairs that needed to be made; one door arm wasn’t working properly, even though the door was locked, and push bars needed to be installed district-wide.

Taulton said the next steps will be to add the door bars, and then the district doors will be rekeyed and a key inventory system will be created.

In other business, the trustees:

  • canvassed the vote for the value added tax rate election, which failed;
  • approved a 0.77670 per $100 official tax rate for the current year’s budget; and
  • approved non-business days and academic calendar for the 2025-26 school year.

The trustees will hold the December meeting on Dec. 16.
