An amendment to the agreement with Komatsu Architecture to extend the period of performance for the courthouse restoration project will be considered for approval by the Polk County Commissioners Court during its regular meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
A public hearing is on the agenda to receive public comment on a petition to abandon Old Blanchard Loop, also known as the Blanchard and Onalaska highway, located in Precinct 2. Following close of the hearing, the Court will consider action to abandon it.
Any action regarding the fiscal year 2026 budget adopted by the Polk Central Appraisal District on March 25 will be considered.
The Court will discuss and consider proposals for county web services.
In personnel matters, the Court will consider approval of personnel action form requests submitted by department heads since the last meeting, review any authorized emergency hires and consider action on a request from the district attorney to utilize unspent salary funds to create a temporary part-time position.
Fiscal year 2025 budget revisions and amendments as presented by the county auditor’s office will be considered for approval.
Winners of the Health County steps competition will be announced during informational reports. Additionally, proclamations will be presented declaring the following: April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, April 6-12 as Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Polk County and April 13-19 as Public Safety Telecommunications Week in Polk County.
Items on the consent agenda include:
• Approve minutes of the March 25 meeting;
• Approve schedules of bills;
• Approve order designating surplus property;
• Receive and record personnel action forms submitted by elected officials since last meeting;
• Receive fiscal year 2024 retiree health care plan accounting and financial report for postemployment benefits;
• Ratify approval of application for renewal of property insurance coverage through Texas Association of Counties Risk Management Pool
• Approve update to the master street address guide; and
• Approve termination of services for panic alarm systems with Eastex Security at the regional health building, Precinct 4 road and bridge and the maintenance building.
The Court will reconvene at 1:30 p.m. for a workshop regarding the approved projects through the Hurricane Harvey Regional Mitigation Program. Updates, including environmental issues, will be presented on all projects and cost concerns will be addressed.
