Fire Chief Keith Johnson said that on Thursday morning, firefighters were called to a boat launch on FM 356 to search for a missing person on a jet ski. TVFD personnel took the rescue boat up Caney Creek and located the person close to Lister Road. The man had spent the night on the jet ski but was unharmed.
Later that afternoon firefighters responded to a grass fire at Tatom Street and Highway 19 South. A passing train set the fire, which was quickly extinguished.
On Friday, a minor two-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 19 South and FM 3453, and the department responded for traffic control. Then at 8 p.m. that night, Trinity Fire was dispatched to a camper on fire at Bell Camp Road on Highway 19 South.
Johnson said firefighters arrived to find the camper with smoke pouring out the front door; while the fire was quickly contained, the camper was a total loss. No one was inside at the time.
On Saturday afternoon lightning struck a tree in Lakewood Subdivision on FM 356 and caused a small grass fire. Residents of the subdivision had the fire contained when firefighters arrived, and then the fire was quickly extinguished.
On Sunday morning firefighters were called to Circle K store on Highway 19 South for a motor home on fire. Johnson said firefighters found the owner had extinguished the fire, so units returned to station. Sunday afternoon a tree collapsed on a power line on Thornton Church Road off Highway 94. The tree was not burning and units returned to station.
Earlier in the week, Trinity firefighters responded to a horse trailer with living quarters on fire Tuesday around noon in Glendale on Sara Lane.
Firefighters arrived to find the trailer fully involved with a camper and barn starting to smolder. Johnson said the fire was quickly extinguished and the barn and camper had heat damage. The cause of the fire appears to be a riding lawnmower parked under the front of the trailer.
