HILLISTER – There are 60 dogs being cared for in Tyler County by Bryce and Cynthia Trumble in Hillister. The couple has been using their four-and-a-half-acre property, and their personal finances to care for dogs in the Ivanhoe and Woodville areas for more than 10 years. “Since COVID, it has been hard,” Trumble said. “So many dogs were abandoned, and it seems no one is adopting dogs. We are trying our best, but with social security and our small pensions we do not have enough to care for them properly. We have even been buying less groceries for ourselves so we can have enough to feed all the dogs. We really need help.”
While in the Tyler County Booster office, he did receive an $85 donation from the Booster’s Bookstore for Charity. These books are donated by the community, sold in the office for 25 cents each, and all proceeds benefit local nonprofits with a need. “We feel like this is an urgent need in our county, so we gave him what we had,” said Kelli Barnes, publisher of the Booster. “Several months ago I wrote an editorial about the need for an SPCA in the county, and some of our readers responded they would be interested in helping. If any of those readers still want to help out, the Trumbles could use money or dog food, medical care, and/or volunteers to help.”
If you would like to assist, please call them at 409-998-2371. “We really need some help … we are overwhelmed,” Trumble said.
