This is my busiest week of the year. This year marks the 25th anniversary of my tenure with the Trinity Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and overseeing the annual Christmas Show.
This show has grown every year to become one of the main events in Trinity City over the past 25 years and we are proud of this legacy.
Before us is the Trinity Community Fair in September, the Veterans Wall of Honor in October, the Christmas Show and the Elf Station in December, and the Trinity County Crime Stoppers Gala in January.
The population of Trinity City is 2,343 people in the city limits, but the hearts of our residents for giving and sharing is three times the size of cities like Lufkin and Huntsville.
The students at Trinity Independent School District have done their part to bring joy and entertainment to the city as well. The 2025 school year still has basketball, softball, and baseball, soccer, track, tennis, golf, UIL, One-Act Play Performances, and much more to come.
We have the remaining events scheduled for December, and the decorations around town have made everyone ready for the holidays.

• The Methodist Women’s Ministry is hosting its Christmas Celebration on Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. at 131 Elm St. in the fellowship hall. Soups and desserts will be served followed by praise and worship
The guest speaker is Emily Miller, location leader of Isaiah House 117 in Montgomery. Their mission is to provide physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting foster placement.
For more information, please call Laura at (936) 594-3826 to see how you can help donate to their needs to build another house in Willis.
• Dec. 14 is the Elf Station Toy Drive Annual Extravaganza downtown on West Main Street. To date the organization has registered 510 Trinity children to receive gifts for themselves and to give gifts to their parents.
This event is becoming one of the best-kept secrets in Trinity County. It has outgrown Mickey’s House but is just across the street now set up at the ROTC building located at 104 W. Main St.
The Elf Station boxes will be picked up from local business this week and next, but if you would like to donate or bring toys to the Chamber Christmas Show on Saturday, you can. A space in the Children’s Corner has been set up in the Santa Claus Annex Room to leave toys or donations from noon until 6 p.m.
To take pictures with Santa Claus, bring your cameras or phones to the Trinity Community Center from 2-4 p.m. The Annex Room will be decorated for parents to take family pictures, and for the children to play and receive snacks.
• The local talent for the 2024 Christmas Show includes Kelly Hartsfield, Karen DeBose, the Trinity Pentecostal Tabernace Church and the Trinity Lions Club.
However, we have a real treat for you because the Trinity Lions Club Barber Shop Quartet is going to perform at Noon on the Pavillion Stage.
The performers are Dr. Garry Reece, Dr. Larry Quan, Dr. Daniel Quan and Richard King. We are the only Christmas show to have three doctors and a king perform free for your enjoyment.
Outside in the Pavillion area the children can enjoy making s’mores and listening to music. If for any reason we must reschedule due to bad weather, we will notify everyone on Thursday with an announcement on Facebook, text, or telephone by 6 p.m. Remember you can text me, Julia McMichael, at any time at (936) 537-8171.
Remembe,r for Trinity Food Vendors and local craftsmen this Christmas Show on Saturday is their last event of the year, so come support your neighbors, friends, and children to celebrate this occasion morally and financially.
Groveton’s Christmas Events and Parade is the second Saturday in December on the 14th. There are many other events happening with light shows and musical events, but my main focus is on Trinity County because they support our elderly and children all year long.
• On Dec. 20, Martin Senior Center will host its second annual Christmas Luncheon at 400 Walker St. at 11:30 a.m. Bingo, contests, and door prizes are on the agenda that day, but don’t forget to reserve a space as we fill up fast to eat in and to take out.
See you at the Christmas Show. Remember the theme for the show and parade is a Cartoon Christmas.
