Douglas Charles Kuritz passed away on January 15, 2025, at his home in Town Bluff, Texas.
He was born February 13, 1947 to Gloria Tevis Kuritz and Cliffred Charles Kuritz. Doug attended Monsignor Kelly High School in Beaumont, Texas, where he graduated. He was drafted into military service, serving in the US Army from 1967 to 1968 in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a Specialist 4th Class. Doug is very proud of his military service and a proud veteran.
He was a skilled carpenter and furniture builder whose talent can be seen in homes around the Beaumont area. Doug enjoyed spending time at his deer lease with his friends at “The Four Acres Hunt Club” and enjoying the beach and fishing.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Cliffred and Gloria Kuritz; his wife, Dorothy Cade Kuritz; and a brother, Andrew Kuritz.
He is survived by his sisters, Rita Patrizi (Dan) of Gonzales, La., Kristine “Kris” Humphrey of Dallas, Karen Buchanan (Dave) of Liberty, and Judy Melancon (Steve) of Gonzales, La.; brothers, Don Kuritz (Barb) of Lone Jack, Mo and Zack Kuritz (Lorrie) of Livingston, Tx.; a host of other family members and friends and a very dear friend and caregiver for ten years, Krista Thompson.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 3 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home.
