Edward “Eddie” Burton Jordan, 71, of Spurger passed away June 13, 2025.

He was born April 24, 1954 in Munich, Germany with the name, Johann Georg Gunther Wagner.  At 3 years old, he was adopted and became Edward B. Jordan.  Eddie spent his younger years traveling as an Air Force family and would finally settle in Spurger near his grandparents.  He spent lots of time with Daddy Oscar and Mama Addie tending to animals and farm duties.  He was very fond of them and cherished those memories deeply.  Eddie met the love of his life, Linda in 1972 and was proudly married to her for “45 years 9 months 5 days 3 hours 15 minutes.” In his early years, he worked at Bethlehem Steel, Kirby, and did carpentry with his Uncle Newton.  He then started working in the logging woods and soon began his own job, Jordan Logging in 1985.  He was proud to hold the Pro Logger title and took great pride in his work.  After 37 years, he retired his business and spent his time on his porch, “rockin’ back and forth, smokin’ cigarettes, and barkin’ at cars”.  He served 21 years on the Spurger school board and many of those as president.  He was proud of his time served and he was always doing so with nothing but the kids in mind.  He loved his community and loved to help by supporting school fundraisers and community charity events.

He attended Beech Creek Church and served as deacon, sound man, and Sunday School teacher for many years. Eddie loved Jesus and firmly believed in the salvation of Jesus Christ.  He loved his children and his grandchildren probably even more so. He loved shiny things and he collected coins, except for pennies. And he absolutely wouldn’t give you any of his change for a dollar bill. He felt most comfortable driving his truck and reminiscing of days past.  He loved when the colors of the leaves changed in the Fall. If you know Eddie, you know he loved to pick and joke and was always giving out nicknames.  He is so very missed already.

Eddie is survived by his brother, James Dudley and sister, Mary Grabbe.  His children: Shannon Smith and husband Jason, Mitzi McElvain and husband Mark, Therese Bible and husband Shawn, and Ed Jordan and wife Kara; grandchildren: Daffodil, Smokey, Buttercup, Odie, Spambo, Daisy, Peanut, Lightnin’, Willameanie, Thunder, Tiddle Bit, Miekemeanie, and Marley; great grandchildren: Chester, Zeppelin, Abel, Joe, and Jude.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Theresia Wagner. His parents, JB and Susie Jordan. And his wife Linda.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home, with Brother Robert McClelland officiating.  Burial will follow at Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Jordan, Hunter Smith, Levi Robinson, Lane Smith, Brian Griffith, and Caleb Dontucci.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Sammy McElvain and Woodrow Jordan.

Postscript:

A little public service announcement. He wanted the world to know, and especially all employees of any fast food chain, that “cheese does NOT go on a burger! If I wanted a cheeseburger, I’d order a cheeseburger. A hamburger does not have cheese.” - Eddie Jordan

Services are held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home, Woodville  573
