GLENDALE — The Trinity Volunteer Fire Department responded to a major accident on Highway 94 near Glendale early Thursday morning.

Fire Chief Keith Johnson said a heavy-duty wrecker was traveling east and collided with a pickup truck going west on Highway 94, causing the wrecker to roll multiple times.

According to DPS reports, at approximately 5:39 a.m., a 2025 Ford F-150 was traveling south, while a 1989 International Paystar truck-tractor was traveling north. It is reported that the driver of the Ford drove on the wrong side of the road, while not passing, and struck the International.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 23-year-old Wade Capps of Lufkin, was not injured.

The driver of the International, identified as 44-year-old Adolfo Hernandez of Houston, was transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center for treatment of possible life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.

The highway was closed to traffic for approximately 20 minutes. The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Public Safety and TxDOT responded as well.

Earlier that week, the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office Junior Deputy Program visited the Hayne Huffman Training Field.

More than 50 youngsters attended the event and were given a tour of PHI AirMed helicopter and talked to the flight crew about their jobs.

Trinity Firefighters then talked to the class about fire safety and then had a demonstration of a car fire. They were treated to snow cones afterwards.
