Fugitive arrested at Lufkin motel on felony narcotics warrants

Wanted for felony warrants of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, a Livingston man was located and brought into custody Monday.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, in coordination with the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division (DPS CID), received credible information on Michael Linan, 49, regarding his whereabouts.

Police said he had been actively evading law enforcement since the execution of a search warrant at his residence last week in Polk County, where three others were arrested and paperwork was started on seizure of his home.

Investigators developed information indicating that Linan was hiding at a motel in Lufkin. Narcotics detectives with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, DPS CID agents, and narcotics detectives with the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office coordinated efforts to locate and apprehend Linan. He was taken into custody at the motel without incident.

Pending transport and further judicial proceedings related to his outstanding felony warrants, Linan could face additional charges as the investigation continues.

“When individuals choose to traffic narcotics in our communities, they will be pursued relentlessly,” Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons said. “Fleeing the county will not prevent arrest. Our investigators will track you down and hold you accountable.”

“This arrest demonstrates the strength of interagency cooperation,” Chief Deputy Andy Lowrie added. “Our Narcotics division, DPS CID, and the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office worked seamlessly to ensure this individual was located and taken into custody safely.”

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office extended its appreciation to DPS CID and the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in bringing the fugitive into custody.
