George Monroe Wigley, age 87, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. 

He was born on May 30, 1939, at home in the Holly Fork Community in Colmesneil, Texas to George Steve Wigley and Pollie Rawls Wigley.  He was of the Methodist faith.  Monroe served his Country in the United States Army from April 17, 1965 to April 16, 1969.  In his younger years, Monroe liked to hunt and fish. He retired from being a cook on oil rigs and tug boats

Monroe was preceded in death by his parents, George Steve Wigley and Pollie Rawls Wigley; his sisters, Dorothy Best and Bobbie Cowart; his brother, Vernon Wigley; his niece Janet Harvey and his nephew Billy Joe Wigley.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Wigley of Livingston, Texas; nephew, Jerry Best and wife Susan of Jasper, Texas; Texas; three great-nieces, one great nephew and several great-great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ferrell Cemetery. Visitation was held at 1 p.m. before the service.
