After 43 years of dedicated service, JT Capps closed an extraordinary chapter at Georgia-Pacific. Defined by hard work, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, JT has traded in his hard hat and tape measure for the well-earned rewards of retirement.
Capps started his wood products manufacturing career in 1983 at the Champion International plant in Corrigan as a utility employee in the panel assembly area. He continued to advance in operational roles including a line tender while completing an industrial engineering degree from Lamar University. After graduation, Capps served in many roles within the Corrigan and Camden plants and ended his career as a process improvement manager for Georgia-Pacific’s plywood division.
“During his 43 years of service, JT climbed the ranks through determination, a strong work ethic, and a passion for helping others,” Vice President of Plywood Operations Scott Hankins said. “Along the way he served in numerous roles, earning the respect of coworkers and helping shape the success of our company. JT retires with a legacy that will be felt for years to come.”
Although Capps said he will miss his Georgia-Pacific family, he is looking forward to the opportunities retirement will bring. He plans to spend more quality time with his wife Paula, their children and grandchildren, while also staying active and pursuing new projects and interests. “Retirement isn’t about slowing down,” Capps said. “It’s the simply the beginning of a new adventure.”
