The Trinity River Authority of Texas, in partnership with FIFA World Cup 2026 Houston, has planned a trash cleanup for Lake Livingston from 9-11 a.m. on March 28 and five sites have been selected.
Volunteers are being sought to help keep Lake Livingston clean and healthy. Participants will remove litter and help preserve one of the region’s most important water resources.
Volunteers may choose from the multiple cleanup sites around the lake, with some even offering opportunities for participation by boat or kayak. All supplies will be provided and volunteers of all ages and experience levels are welcome.
Site One is the Lake Livingston Dam and Browder’s River Park in Polk and San Jacinto counties. Site Two is Riverside Boat Ramp and Trinity River Oxbow in Walker County. Site Three is Outback Campground and Marina in Trinity County. Site Four is FM 356 over Mill Creek in Trinity County. Site Five is On The Lake RV and Cabin Resort in Polk County.
After the cleanup, participants are invited to a volunteer appreciation gathering with food and refreshments from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Onalaska City Park as a thank you for their hard work.
Despite cold, rainy conditions, Outreach and Communications associates Caleb Naylor and Jewel Koenig, Watershed Sciences and Grant Manager Heather Firn and Lake Livingston Project Manager Chad Holton toured multiple areas around the lake earlier this year to identify potential cleanup sites. Trash and debris were observed at several locations during the site visits.
The cleanup will expand outreach efforts and strengthen community involvement in the TRA’s Southern Region while promoting lake stewardship and improving shoreline conditions.
Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on March 20. For additional information, contact naylorcr@trinityra.org.
