GROVETON — On Sept. 8, two inmates being held in Trinity County Jail were baptized after putting their faith in Jesus Christ, confessing their sins, and giving their lives to the Lord.
Sheriff Woody Wallace said his officers does not just lock people up and throw them away because they made mistakes; they believe people can change, hearts can be restored, and lives can be redeemed through Jesus Christ.
“Not everyone who goes to jail is beyond saving,” Wallace said. “Most people simply need someone to believe in them, speak truth into their lives, and show them there is a better way forward.”
Jeff Jones with Life Church in Groveton provides church services and Bible studies with the inmates every week, and his ministry is making a real difference, Wallace said.
“Being baptized does not mean these men are perfect, nor does it mean any of us are without sin,” Wallace said. “It means they have taken an important step toward changing their hearts and their lives. Today, we celebrate that decision, pray for their continued walk with Christ, and give God all the glory. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17).”
