Kathryn “Kathy” Lynette Caldwell Spurlock, 63 of Onalaska, Texas, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on April 17, 2026, surrounded by love and carried home by faith. She was born March 3, 1963 in Crockett, Texas.

After a long courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer, Kathy left this world with grace, leaving behind her devoted husband, Calvin Spurlock and her loving bonus daughter Donya Spurlock and her children. She also leaves behind two sons, Elijah and Christian Admire; her dad, Weymon Caldwell, brothers, Buddy and Perry Caldwell; sisters, Eleceia Cupps and Tammy Conwell; plus many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kathy was a Christian country girl through and through and a big fan of the Houston Astros. She was a kind and thoughtful daughter, sister, mother and friend. Kathy was born the second child of Weymon and Nina Caldwell in Crockett, Texas but grew up in Houston before moving her family to Lovelady, Texas, where she raised her two boys.

She graduated from Aldine Senior High School in Houston and later studied at Texas School of Business. Later in life Kathy pursued a career as a nail technician, a job that allowed her creativity and gift for conversation to shine. She practiced until declining health made it no longer possible – yet even then, she never lost her warmth or her smile.

Kathy loved deeply and always put God first in her life. She treasured time with family and friends, delighted in shared laughter, and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether spending quiet moments with her husband, enjoying bingo with her dear friends in the Onalaska Daytrippers senior group, singing karaoke or simply being present with those she loved.

Travel was one of her greatest joys and she and Calvin eagerly hit the open road whenever they could, embracing adventures and new experiences together. Coming from humble beginnings, Kathy found beauty in simplicity. She was happiest when she was on the move – wandering, exploring and savoring life’s moments. Family gatherings were filled with laughter, stories of days gone by and second helpings of one of her favorite desserts – peach cobbler.

In her final days, her faith and quiet moments of prayer sustained her, and her hopeful, positive spirit carried her until God gently called her home. Kathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hollis and Mae Huntsman of Lovelady, Texas; her mother, Nina Mae Caldwell of Pearson Chapel, Texas; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who will be waiting to welcome her with open arms.

Her love remains. Her faith endures. And her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

A funeral service is slated for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Cochran’s Funeral Home in Onalaska, Texas. Viewing for family will be from noon to 1 p.m. and for friends will be from 1-2 p.m. Kathy will be buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska.

If anyone wishes to send condolences, sympathy cards or much appreciated donations to help with funeral expenses please send them to Kathy’s husband, Calvin Spurlock, at P.O. Box 294, Onalaska, Texas 77360.
