Kenneth Ray Myers, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Trinity, Texas, on July 19, 2026.
Kenneth was born at home in Nacogdoches County, Texas, on Aug. 2, 1936, to Perry P. Myers and Loran Odell (Wallace) Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Perry Myers, Charles Myers, and Doyle Myers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Wanda Jean (Marshall) Myers; his children, Tammie Myers Clough and husband Delbert, Kenneth Wayne Myers and wife Belinda, and Julie Perez and husband Shane. He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Jeremy Myers and wife Valerie, Andrew Myers and Kelly Chick, Amanda Myers, Nathaniel Perez, Adin Perez, and Emma Perez; and four treasured great-grandchildren: Emily, Rylee, Carson, and Preston Myers.
Kenneth faithfully answered God's call to ministry and devoted more than five decades to serving churches and communities. He began his pastoral ministry in McKinney, Kentucky, in 1970. He then served at Pennington Baptist Church from 1974 to 1977, Friday Baptist Church from 1978 to 1984, Trinity Pines Baptist Church from 1984 to 2002, and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church from 2003 until his retirement in 2025. Throughout his ministry, he faithfully preached the Gospel, shepherded countless families, and lived a life of servant leadership.
His heart for ministry extended far beyond the local church. Kenneth served on the Board of Directors at Pineywoods Baptist Encampment, where he generously shared his talents by caring for the grounds and helping with building construction and maintenance. He also participated in numerous mission trips to Mexico, Guatemala, and Senegal, sharing God's love through both word and deed. Additionally, he was actively involved with Campers on Mission, combining his love of service with his faith.
Before entering full-time ministry, Kenneth worked as a plumber for more than 20 years. He was known for his strong work ethic, practical skills, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Above all else, Kenneth loved his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was especially known for his exceptional cooking, particularly his homemade pies—family favorites included chocolate, pecan, and coconut. His strawberry fig preserves became legendary among those who knew him and was affectionately known throughout the family as "Pawpaw Jelly." These simple acts of love created lasting memories that will be treasured for generations.
Kenneth's life was a testament to unwavering faith, humble service, and unconditional love. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion to Christ, dedication to his family, and compassion for others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his influence and example will continue to live on in the hearts of those who have been blessed by his life.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 24, 2026, followed by a funeral service at Trinity Pines Baptist Church. Interment followed at Chita Cemetery.
