•Eddie and Maxie’s Afternoon Dance is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, at the VFW Hall on Caroline Street. The band performing is True Country. The dance cost is $15 with the cantina open for drinks.
The snack bar is not open, but the women’s auxiliary is hosting a bake sale during the afternoon dancing event.
The VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary is also selling baked goodies on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday at the post to raise money to buy banners for our veteran heroes who lived or died in Trinity Country for us as memorials to their sacrifices.
The Ladies’ Auxiliary is trying to honor our veterans with these banners to be placed on the electrical poles that are already in place on south and north Robb Street.
However, no one at the Trinity City offices can help with this endeavor nor can the Auxiliary ladies get the Entergy Company to return their calls to request to use the poles.
We are already using the poles for Trinity’s Christmas decorations. The banners are not large. The plan is to purchase about 20 flags which are $85 apiece to be hung from Brookshire Brothers area north to the Dorcas Wills Church area.
Thus, the reason for all the bake sales, garage sales, chili cook-off and Halloween events is to raise $1700 to buy these banners to honor our Trinity veterans.
The bake sale that is on sale on Sunday during the bingo games is held from 3-5:30 p.m. The public is invited to play bingo games and purchase homemade goodies to support the VFW Post 6899 and its endeavors.
•Don’t forget there is a barbecue fundraiser for the 356 Volunteer Fire Department on FM 356 this Saturday, at 11 a.m.
See you at the Westwood Shores Subdivision Garage sale this weekend.
