When the Onalaska Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle last week, officers immediately began investigating the incident.
With combined efforts of the Onalaska Police Department, Livingston Police Department, and Polk County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle was located and recovered less than 12 hours later.
During the investigation, Ernest Estell, 29, of Livingston, was found to be in possession of the stolen vehicle and taken into custody. He has been charged with unauthorized use of vehicle and theft of property, but additional criminal charges may follow as the investigation continues.
“This recovery highlights the dedication of officers and the value of teamwork between local law enforcement agencies,” the Onalaska Police Department said in a statement. “We are committed to protecting our community and holding offenders accountable. We appreciate the continued support of our citizens and our partner agencies who help make Onalaska a safer place.”
