Through search warrants and work by the Livingston Police Department and Polk County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement made arrests for the distribution of drugs in the area.

Officers learned that Preston Scott Brown was selling drugs just outside the city limits, which police say was affecting residents. Brown was located and arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Officers then worked with the PCSO narcotics division, and obtained a search warrant for his home.

Officers and deputies executed the warrant last week at a home in the Crystal Lakes subdivision. During the search, they found methamphetamine and psilocybin mushrooms, along with items commonly used to sell and distribute illegal drugs. Brown was also charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and an additional count of possession of a controlled substance.

In a separate case, officers completed a lengthy investigation into the sale of illegal drugs near Pine Ridge Primary School. On Wednesday, March 18, officers executed a search warrant at a home connected to the investigation.

During the search, investigators found methamphetamine, crack cocaine, MDMA, synthetic marijuana, and illegally possessed prescription medications. They also found a firearm and items commonly used to sell and distribute drugs.

The suspect, Alvin Taylor II, was later arrested and charged with six counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Some charges were increased, as the home is located in a drug-free zone. Additional charges may be filed.

“Our officers are committed to preventing the sale and use of illegal drugs, especially in areas near our schools,” LPD Chief David Mitchell said. “We are dedicated to protecting our children and maintaining a safe environment for everyone.”
