Today I have no complaints. The weather is beautiful, cold, but not intolerable. I went to a birthday party on Saturday for my young friend Lanora Ainsworth, whose actual birthday was Sunday. It was a fun time, and it was held at the El Rancho Viejo Restaurant in Trinity.
It was wonderful to listen to her friends and family give testimony to what a great aunt, mother, grandmother, wife, sister and wife she has been for 93 years. Born in 1932, Lanora decided to slow down for a bit. Known for her culinary skills, she will only bake for the VFW, Trinity County Commerce, and her friends and relatives.
A reknown dentist, Dr. Bubba Hirsch of Trinity, also has a birthday on the same day as Lanora’s. Dr. Bubba Hirsch has received many so accolades during his career and has been an outstanding Trinity Lions Club member for over 35 years. Dr. Bubba Hirsch was elected to the Texas Lions Club Hall of Fame in 1995 and has left a legacy that no one has been able to compete with since. His service and deeds are still talked about today.
Holly Hirsch took her Dad deep-sea fishing and posted pictures on Facebook depicting their happy day.
• Last week I told you about the Trinity County Crime Stoppers 17th Annual Cowboy Mardi Gras Fundraiser held at the Trinity Community Center, and it was a huge success. They auctioned off wonderful donations, served an awesome meal, provided music and a dance, and honored the law enforcement agencies in Trinity County.
The donations amounted to more than $12,000. Larry Grant, Rick Villarreal, Denice Henderson, and other board members are to be commended for a job well done, and a beautiful fun-filled gala.
