My name is Brent Marcum. I’d like to share with you a little bit about myself, why I am seeking this position, and what might qualify me as your Precinct 4 Commissioner.
I am 54 years old. I have lived in Spurger for 33 years, 30 of those years married to my wife, Kristie, who was born and raised in Tyler County. We have raised 3 children who are now active adults serving our community through church, entrepreneurship, employment, volunteer fire department, and school.
My reasoning for seeking this position is because I feel it’s important to continue to build and maintain a strong and safe infrastructure for our county, precinct, and community. In doing this, we must focus on the budget and use the taxpayers’ money wisely, so as not to cause more burden or financial stress. While also providing the needs of our precinct in regards to maintaining and improving roads and bridges, creating and improving policies and rules, as well as supporting our local and county emergency response services.
When I look back and reflect on my life, I feel that God has been preparing me for this role. Since the age of 18, I have worked in public service.
My experience comes from employment, elected positions, and appointed positions to the Tyler County Appraisal District Board of Directors and the Southeast Texas Groundwater Conservation District Board of Directors.
I believe we should strive to live our lives to glorify God in all things. Him first, then family, work, and everything else – in that order.
If given the opportunity to serve as your commissioner, it being God’s will, I will to the best of my ability service Tyler County and Precinct 4 in a way pleasing to God, while honoring the hard works of our previous commissioners, and giving 100% to building and maintaining a safe and strong precinct.
I don’t look at this as a job title, but as a fellow member of our precinct striving to improve and maintain our infrastructure. I see it as a privilege to work alongside everyone, sharing my knowledge and experience while also being open-minded and listening to the concerns of taxpayers, county employees and the employees of Precinct 4.
Thank you and God Bless.
YOUR VOTE IS YOUR VOICE.
